19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts
A comeback Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - caused him falling of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.
Presently training with his coach and his other coach, he has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks his maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface since March of that year.
Victory also signifies Medvedev has won 21 championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to get a title is really nice," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six finals, including in that event previously this season.
His defensive play style and recurring outbursts on court had caused observers to question if his ability to perform at the top level was over.
But the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and play assertively, supported by an enhanced serving game.
He fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the final five games to go ahead.
The competitors swapped breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, took control to force a decider.
He saved four early chances in a tight deciding set before the champion secured a break to that score to close out the victory.
Suitably, the winner earned the win with a shot at the net area, with Moutet unable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
