Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem out of place, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group knows exactly where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his own means, invading the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then settled his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the party enter areas they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The cleric defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to head to Timmony in quest for Casimir.
What’s Next?
From episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Explorers and Schemers parties.
Viewers can expect finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
